Help with Shelf
Support
Sourceflow LLC operates Shelf. For help, privacy questions, or an account-deletion request, email [email protected].
Install and pair the Chrome extension
- Download the Shelf Chrome extension ZIP. Shelf distributes this package as a manual install.
- Unzip it and keep the extracted folder together. The folder you select below must contain
manifest.jsonat its root. - In Chrome, open
chrome://extensionsand turn on Developer mode. - Choose Load unpacked, then select the extracted Shelf folder.
- Open the Shelf extension popup. In the signed-in Shelf app, open Settings and copy the exact server URL and short-lived pairing code. Paste both into the popup and choose Pair extension.
- When Chrome asks for permission to connect to that Shelf server, review the address and allow it if it is the server you selected.
The extension captures the active public HTTP or HTTPS page's URL, title, and browser-visible text. It sends those values to the paired Shelf server. A successful save removes the pending local copy. If a retryable transfer fails, the extension keeps the pending copy so you can open the original page and retry. If the pairing has expired or been revoked, the extension clears its matching credential and pending save. A new pairing discards a pending save from the previous pairing.
If a browser save fails
- Open the original page before choosing Retry Failed Save.
- For an extraction failure, open the page in a normal public tab and choose Retry Extraction.
- If the pairing has expired or was revoked, create a new pairing code in Shelf Settings and pair the extension again.
- Restricted browser pages and pages without readable text cannot be captured by the extension.
Documented self-service
- Export your reading library in supported formats.
- Delete saved articles or request account deletion.
- View membership status, purchase, or restore a membership through the App Store and StoreKit flow when membership is available.
- Generate an account-owned newsletter address, then pair or revoke browser-extension credentials from the signed-in app.
- Withdraw remote-audio consent in Settings to stop new speech generation. Audio already cached on your device can still play.
- Save supported public content on device or through the paired browser extension. Shelf does not bypass publisher access controls.
